Orange is a bright and happy colour and made even more so by complimenting it with blue and as Vincent van Gogh once wrote to his brother “there is no orange without blue.” We all know the colour Orange, a colour between red and yellow but Carotene is different. It is actually the pigment in plants that converts the light energy of the sun into chemical energy for plant growth. The creek lines show a channelling of water spread across the top of the piece to a more concentrated area. This artwork uses the creek lines carrying water and the idea of plant growth to combine into a permanent and deeper water body. This body of water in turn overflows to produce the areas of green algae in the bottom left corner of the piece.
