Sands of Time

Elevated Collection

The battle of tides and sand bars is an ever-changing fight that neither side ever wins. Tidal currents close to the shore move sand from one location to another dependent on the strength of tidal flow and season but in doing that it changes its own flow patterns. This constant and ever moving delivery of sand and the subsequent changing of flow is a fascinating relationship. The layers of sand and different heights caught my eye in this piece. You can see the centre darker island jutting downwards into two lighter areas. Knowing this is a higher area similar tones can be seen in two other areas, we have height in the image and the flow and ebb of water now makes sense as it runs down the image.
