Paul Arnold Elevated

Elevated Collection

To sprawl is to spread out over a large area in an untidy way. Nature can be untidy, yet organised and methodical and it is easy to see the why and the how as in the case of this creek on Gunn Point, reaching out on to the floodplain to collect the wet season waters and carry to those waters to Shoal Bay. When I was creating this piece, I remember the pencil artists on sidewalks and at the markets all over Australia who would have a box of pencils of varying hardness and would create stunning work one stroke at a time. When I started working on this piece I decided to use that experience and to replicate these ways. I used my brushes and pens to work on the details in the creek and floodplain and build the result much the same way a pencil artist would on the side walks throughout the world.
